The practice appointment system provides more availability for 'on the day' appointments and a smaller number of pre-bookable appointments for those who need to book ahead (These can be booked two weeks ahead). Appointments can be made either on the telephone or via the internet. To access appointments via the internet please ask reception for details.
For an on-the-day appointment, please telephone the surgery preferably in the morning at 8.00am or using the automated phone system from 6.30pm the previous evening. Pre-bookable appointments are opened up each weekday two weeks in advance. These appointments can be made at any time. Please be aware our phones lines are exceptionally busy first thing in the morning but will be answered as soon as possible.
We encourage patients to see their usual GP wherever possible; however, you are able to see any GP if your usual GP is not available. For more information please see our Named GP page.
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly.
Practice nurse appointments can be made in advance.
Both the doctors and practice nurses are available to give advice over the telephone. You may be asked to phone back or to leave your telephone number so the doctor or nurse can ring you back when they are free.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
***Having problems getting through to the Surgery at 8.00am?***
After research into our telephone system, it has shown that on average 40+ people are ringing the Surgery just before 8.00am in the hope to beat the early morning rush. This is causing a back log in the system which is delaying patients getting through when the lines actually open.
Please note that the telephone lines do not switch over until 8.00am, this is when we advise you to start dialling. Thank you for your co-operation.
